Lodging at Teakwood Plantation

We have a 18 acres Teakwood Plantation located in Mile 16 Gum Gum Sandakan. Just approx. 10 mins drive from the home to the famous Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, one of the few rehabilitation center for the Orang Utan apes in the world. Lodging available for rental at a reasonable price.

The teakwood also known as "Kayu Jati" to the locals is a genus of tropical hardwood trees in the family of Verbenaceae. It is widely used in the manufacture of outdoor furniture, boat decks, and other articles where weather resistance is desired. The trees here age between 10 to 15 years.

The plantation also has some mahogany trees and local fruit trees like durian, rambutan, pandan coconut and papaya. For visitors who enjoy fishing, there are plenty of fishes to catch from the 3 big fish ponds within the plantation. Within the plantation, we have bungalow available for lodging. Perfect place for researchers, tourist and even locals who wants a rejuvenating retreat, away from the hustle bustle of the city. Please check out the pictures of the plantation below.

Deep Sea Fishing and Boat charter

Deep sea fishing fishing in Sandakan has been very rewarding to me so far. A wide varieties of fishes have been caught, ranging from the good size 1-2 kg Red Snapper to giants like the Sting Ray and Grouper, which can easily weight over 20kg. We fish from depth ranging from 10 to 20 meters in the Sulu sea. If luck is on your side, you may also see a whole school of dolphins, working together to feed on other of tiny fishes. Do check out the pictures, that I have posted from my fishing trip.

Boat charter is available for fishing trip and also available for visiting nearby attractions like Selingan Turtle Islands or simply just to get a different view of Sandakan from the sea. Please contact us for more information.
